The one-day class will cover the building code portion of review based on the International Building Code. Discussion will include assigning occupancy groups\, checking allowable height and area\, Looking at occupancy specific issues amongst many other topics. Class will also discuss efficiently using the code to perform your plan review. The class will discuss different methods and resources necessary to perform a successful review. This is not a code introduction class\, but it is intended for beginner to intermediate level commercial plan reviewers and also serves as a good reminder for those who have been at it for a while.\nInstructor: Bill Clayton – Shums Coda Associates \nWEDNESDAY-FULL DAY\n2024 IBC Means of Egress\nThis class is a basic overview of the means of egress requirements included in Chapter 10 of the International Building Code. The presentation will include detailed discussions on the design of the means of egress in buildings. Subjects included in the class are the three parts of the means of egress including occupant loads\, egress width\, number of exits\, travel distance\, common path of egress travel and exit enclosures. Practical examples will be used to illustrate code requirements.\nInstructor: Bill Clayton – Shums Coda Associates \nTHURSDAY-FULL DAY\n2024 IBC Update and Significant Changes\nReviews the changes from the last edition to the current edition of the International Building Code. The background behind many of the changes will be discussed to provide the participants with an understanding of the intent of the changes and how to apply it to their everyday work. DESCRIPTION:This dynamic course will provide the participants the opportunity for hands on scientific based fire death investigations utilizing cadavers in partnership with Applied Anatomical Research Center- SHSU.
